There seems to be a rebellion brewing in the VFW against its old-school PAC, which has shunned a lot of tea partiers while endorsing Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. VFW's leadership says in a red-faced statement, "We are requesting the chairman and the directors of the Political Action Committee immediately rescind their endorsement actions."
"These members of the board of the PAC look like they rode with Pershing," one critic tells the enterprising Adam Weinstein. On the other hand, they may just be pragmatically acting in the long-term interests of vets, instead of going all romantic and panting after the latest thing.
You have libertarians like senate candidate Sharron Angle who called for "privatization" of the VA. Because our billionaires have hijacked the tea party message, most folks don't know that most tea party types would slash our military budget too. For some reason, many GIs on the government dole don't realize that a big military is part of big government.
Very poor choice of words CMEYERGO. Those is the military service do not join because they can't get a job and need government assistance.
And most in the military do realize that our "big military" is commnaded by our government. Besides the Tea Party doesn't know what it wants to do with regard to anything foreign policy related, and that includes the military.
"On the other hand, they may just be pragmatically acting in the long-term interests of vets, instead of going all romantic and panting after the latest thing."
Rather a paternalistic statement don't you think Mr. Ricks? The members of the VFW are capable of thinking for themselves and appear to want their PAC to reflect that thinking.
