Mark Shields commented that the Republican response to the State of the Union, delivered from the Virginia House of Delegates in Richmond, should have been called "the State of the Confederacy."

Megadittoes, Mr. Shields!

IT WAS IRONIC

The Republicans were in the Confederate capitol responding to the Democrats in Washington. Lincoln would have been amused.

Made me nostalgic ...

... for Bobby Jindal. He had me transfixed. This VA guy was like a Stepford-Clockwork Orange mash-up, and it was just creepy.

PS What happened to the Captcha's?

Subliminal message

The Rs have had a subliminal message ever since Nixon and his Southern Strategy: "(whisper whisper) we will save you from those black folks." Now who will save us from these Rs?

How so very self righteous.

Ironic isn't it, that the real State of The Union Address was delivered
a little further North of Washington and Richmond, on January 19, in the great state of Massachusetts!
What a sweet night for those of us who like the idea of real dissent.

Really, is that the best you can do?

I watched our newly elected Governor and thought he did a fine job of showing why he won in a LANDSLIDE in our state, in addition to having HUGE coattails for fellow Republicans.

Lest we forget who was the party of slavery and segregation..I did also want to point out that even Dems acknowledged that McDonnell ran a magnificent campaign and is a likely future face of the Republican party.

Whereas, the current POTUS seems to be flailing about smartly looking for something to talk about besides unemployment, bogus global warming, the BCS Championship and a TRILLION dollar projected deficit.

Or it could be that his teleprompter is taking the week off....

Not sure why there needs to be a "Republican Response"....

Governance, accountability and responsibility, honesty and civility are not of the prominent RNC/GOP values and attributes.

One would hardly consider neither a history of plantation barbarism as an element of civilization nor the follow on century of brutal segregation and robed tyranny to be a source of ethical pride.

Was there a greenish witch pulling that rag of the land of Oz and Grits?
