Danish losses in Afghanistan

I didn't know that the Danish military has lost 25 soldiers in Afghanistan. That's a lot for a little country. Its people have my sympathy.

That's TWO to THREE times the US per capita ratio

Denmark is 1/56 of US population (5.5M vs 307M). 56x25=1400. Per Defenselink 633 total US mil deaths (467 KIA) in Afghanistan. So regardless off how you cut it, the numbers readily show how the Danes (along with a precious few other countries) are punching waaaay above their relative weight.

It can often be a very instructive "context/impact translator" to derive the US equivalent loss and think of how it would play here at home. The Aussies draw their staying power in Afghanistan from the Bali tragedy and its trememndous national impact - try the math. No more 9/11s also means no more Balis down under.

Thanks for those little bits

Thanks for those little bits of perspective, guys.

Little signs that we sacrifice for one another, even across the world. Not just us pulling the weight. God bless Denmark.
