The Pentagon's "Early Bird" (a compilation of defense news stories) yesterday carried an item from a blog. This was to my knowledge a first. The lucky blogger was Long War Journal 's Bill Roggio, who deserves the honor. There he was, item 27 of the EB of June 27, 2009.
A salute to Price Floyd, the Pentagon's new communications czar, for the new policy. I wonder where he used to work?

Back in the good old days Tom, when air support was slow in delivering, and the M-16 was malfunctioning, the Early Bird consisted of news articles "clipped" out of differant printed papers by hand - cobbled together and photo copied and disseminated on a grainy legal pad size four or five page missive to the world wide G/N/J staffs, of which I proudly never served.
Can you imagine how early someone got up to do that? : - )
This just in from Jason Sherman of Inside Defense:
For what it's worth, Roggio's entry is not the first blog post to run in the Early Bird. The EB began picking up the occasional blog item earlier this year. One of the earliest I can put my hands on is in the attached April 18 EB -- see story No. 26.
Best,
Jason
